It has recently been discovered that there
has been a submission by Allen Newport Ltd via their agents Cheffins to the East
Cambridgeshire District Council (ECDC) to enhance their Future Development
Core Strategy by extending the development boundary within Kennett. This
proposal is to extend the development boundary in Kennett to include the area of
land bounded by Church Lane and Station Road ( Approximately 6 acres).

To make the proposal more attractive to
ECDC the submission states that this is for affordable houses to be built in
that area. A group of interested residents who oppose this change have recently
posted to all the residents a flyer outlining the proposal and how it could
impact the village. They have additionally enclosed a pre- completed form and a
stamp addressed envelope so that an objection can be submitted. The group
urge residents that if they agree with the objections to send their completed
forms in as soon as possible but at the latest the
9th January 2009
so that they arrive before the closing date of 12th
January 2009. All the submissions must be
in by this date as a central governmental inspection and review is due to
commence after that date.
